How to get an interview call quickly?

Hey guys, here is a post on simple tips to get an interview call quickly….

Prepare your CV:

This is the essential step in job searching. The resume is the first chance to impress any recruitment team. So it’s important to format it properly such that recruiter feels good about your profile at first glance. While writing your resume keep the following points in mind:
1.   It’s good to create your resume in the most popular files formats like doc, docx or pdf.
2.   Choose a proper resume format for your CV. As far as I see a tabular formatted resume would be good for IT job seekers and non-tabular formatted would be good for job seekers in other industries.
3.   Avoid spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in the sentence formation. If the spell checker is not acting as you expected and you are sure that the sentence/spelling is correct then choose “ignore once/all” option. This avoids recruiter from seeing red/green/blue squiggly underlines.
4.   Follow proper indentation, line spacing and font styles. Create heading, subheading and paragraph styles, and use them wherever applicable. This way the consistent format is maintained throughout the document.
5.   Add your career information in reverse chronological order.
6.   Avoid providing extra information like your complete address, information related to your hobbies, strengths and weaknesses.
7.   Keep your resume simple and short. A resume of 2 to 3 pages is ideal.
8.   Name your resume with helpful information, like “[your name] – [Designation/Qualification]”. Giving a proper name to resume makes easy to find your resume out thousands of documents.

Keep your profile on display:

Now it’s time to showcase your profile to recruiters and organizations. You can do this in several ways:

1.   Register your profile in the job portals:

Job portals provide a way for job seekers to search for jobs and for recruiters to find a capable resource. If you search for job portals on the web then you would see numerous results. Selecting the best portals is the first thing to do. You can select the job portals based on the location where it is popular and based on the industry where it has more connections. Once you have selected 3 to 5 best portals then register yourself with them, provide every detail and achieve 100% profile completion (This is needed because recruiters are more likely to see completed profiles only). Also, ask your colleagues, friends to endorse your skill set in the job portal. You can create multiple profiles for each skill set.
The following are the popular job portals:
a.    www.monster.com
b.    www.naukri.com
c.    www.indeed.com

2.   Sign up with selected companies:

You might be aware of the best organizations in the industry and you might have a dream to work for a few companies. Now, make a note of all the companies and register with them in their careers portal.

Hunt for jobs:

Once the process of registering with job/careers portal is done, you can explore the portals to find the best matching jobs. If you feel a job description is matching 70% with your profile then you can apply for it. Daily you can spend some time on searching and applying for jobs.

Keep your profile active:

This is the case where recruiters are likely to see most active profiles. So make your profile active by updating your information daily in the portal. Here's a simple trick to do so - upload your latest resume daily.

Don’t miss any call:

If your profile matches with the JD then recruiters will try to contact you via email or phone. If you have DND (Do not Disturb) option set for your registered mobile number, then you could not receive some important job calls. So disable this setting for your registered number. Be available to take the calls on daytime – talk less with your girlfriend.

Be aggressive

If you feel a job description is matching with your profile, then try to get the contact information like email id and phone number. Instead of applying for the job from portal you can directly share information with the contact person. Before sending any email try to reach them by phone and then send your details. This way the recruiter will not ignore your mail.

Check your emails regularly:

Most of the times recruiters will send emails asking for your interest. So keep checking your emails very often and respond to them.

Keep a number of leaves available:

It is very often that the companies will invite you for an interview on weekdays. So maintaining enough leaves with you will be helpful.
If the above steps are followed soon you will get an interview call.

I hope this information helps you, if so please comment. In my next post, I am back with “Preparing for an interview and performing well in the interview” topic.
